I’m a lucky mom of two beautiful daughters, Emily and Charlotte, and a black lab dog, Athena. I have a husband, Erik, who truly completes me. He makes up for my shortcomings and is the most supportive husband in the world. He makes me laugh every day!
Outside of my family, running is my biggest passion in life. I ran my 14th marathon in June, 2016, and am currently working towards my goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon (goal: 2019). I run for the Oiselle Team and am currently training under Becki Spellman, a 3x Olympic Trials qualifier. I have improved so much over the years as a runner, but I truly believe my strongest and fastest days are yet to come!
I’ve learned a lot about myself as a runner since my first marathon in 2009, of which I ran with very little training under my belt (let’s be real, I ran 9 miles the weekend before the race and thought I was ready). I didn’t know what a true training plan looked like, or how to do long runs. I didn’t know the importance of nutrition, or the importance of rest and recovery to fuel a run or prevent injury. I’ve learned a lot of lessons the hard way, so my hope is that I can share my experiences so that we can learn together along the way. I’ll cover a little bit of everything, such as race recaps, nutrition, running through the challenges that parenthood brings, and the good, the bad and the ugly of marathon training.
I’d also love to hear from you, so don’t be a stranger!
